Effective Date: [25/05/26]
Vocabity (“we,” “our,” or “us”) values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle user data in our mobile app. It also explains how we handle your data on our website, specifically through our email sign up form and Google Analytics. Our website address is: https://vocabity.com.
1. Mobile App Data
1.1 Information We Collect
Vocabity does not collect, store, or share any personal data by default (only your progress data is saved on your device). We offer the option to sign in using your Apple and Google account. If you sign in with your Apple or Google account, we access your email address and first name to create your Vocabity profile. We then store this data and your progress data (see below) on our server.
1.2 Progress Data
In the main app feed (the image icon in the main navigation bar) and the camera page (the camera icon in the main navigation bar), user actions are recorded as personal learning progress data. This includes question responses, question skips, answer reveals, and points earned. These actions are recorded to allow users to track and view their learning progress, and to personalise the main app feed using a spaced repetition algorithm (i.e., items answered incorrectly are shown more frequently). If the user is not signed in, this data is stored locally on the device. If the user is signed in, this data is transmitted to and stored on our server.
1.3 Use of Camera Permission
Our app requests camera access to allow users to take pictures of real-world objects or words. These images are processed entirely on your device. We do not transmit, store, or share images or text data with any external servers or third parties.
1.4 How We Use Your Camera Image Data
- The camera is only used when a user explicitly navigates to the camera page in the main navigation bar, or the camera tab on the filter page.
- On the main camera page, object detection and image classification are used to locate and identify real-world objects.
- On the camera tab on the filter page, text recognition is used to adjust the vocabulary images that appear in the main app feed.
- No image data is saved or transmitted off the device.
1.4 Third-Party Services
The Vocabity app does not integrate third-party analytics or tracking with your progress or image data. The association between a user’s Apple and Google account and their Vocabity profile is managed securely using Firebase.
1.5 Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify users within the app.
